What wedding signs do you need at your wedding?

What wedding signs do you need at your wedding? Wedding signs add a personal touch to your wedding. They welcome your guests on the day. They can also direct them to your ceremony and reception. Wedding signage is also useful for sharing information about your wedding menu and bar drinks.

The wedding sign designs can complement the theme of your day and add your personalities.

Many couples design their wedding signs so that they can display them  in their homes after the wedding. Think favourite quotes or venue illustrations. So what wedding signs do you need?

What wedding signs do you need at your wedding?

WELCOME SIGNS

First up, Welcome Signs are a detail that makes your wedding unique and they won’t go unnoticed by your guests.  This is a warm welcome when your guests first arrive at your wedding. Tie your design into your overall style and decor and beautify with green garlands or pretty blooms.

But Welcome signs are not just decorative. They give guests directions when they arrive, or can display your itinerary. And don’t forget to put your wedding hashtag on it so your Instagram feed will be flooded with candid moments from your day!

DIRECTION SIGNS

These are small signs, usually arrows that say ‘Ceremony’ or ‘Reception’. They guide your guests around your venue. This is most helpful if your wedding is outdoors and the ceremony area is in a different place to your reception. You can also direct guests to parking areas, lawn games, and the bar!

UNPLUGGED CEREMONY SIGN

Are you having an unplugged wedding? When your guests have been welcomed and guided to the ceremony spot, you may need a reminder to turn phones off and enjoy your special moment. It also helps your photographer capture the ceremony beautifully. No one wants wedding photos with guests holding up cell phones photos! Your celebrant can mention that the ceremony is unplugged. So although not absolutely necessary, this sign is a useful reminder to guests that may need the message reinforced!

SEATING CHARTS

Have you ever been to a wedding without a seating plan? It can be a bit daunting deciding where to sit, especially if you don’t know many people. Guests who already know each other flock to sit together and there may only be random seats left. It’s awkward, social chaos! If guests are assigned tables, they can quickly find their seat with the right crowd… which means more time for dinner, dancing and cake!

CARDS AND WISHES SIGN

After the ceremony guests usually go to the reception area. There is usually a table and gift box. It is useful to have a small sign to show guests where to leave their wedding gift envelopes.

GUESTBOOK SIGN

This is another little sign which gives instructions to guests on how to sign your guestbook. This is a particularly useful sign if you have a Polaroid guestbook.

BAR MENU SIGN

This sign displays all the choices of drinks  available for your guests. It includes wines, beers, bubbly and non-alcoholic beverages.

And if you’re having signature cocktails, it’s a sweet idea to have them illustrated and the ingredients listed.

TABLE NUMBERS

These correspond to your seating chart. Have fun with these little signs. Also, instead of numbers you can choose destinations you’ve been, favourite movies, books, or songs, or anything else that is personal to you as a couple.

The number of signs you have at your wedding should be based on how much instruction think you need to give your guests. Get creative, have fun, and show your personalities with your wedding signs.

And of course we’d love to help you create them! Check out our options for wedding and direction signs or get in touch to chat about your ideas.
