Wedding Menus: What do you need? The food at your wedding is one of the most celebratory, social moments. Sharing delicious food and wine is one of the most fun times for your guests. Menu cards are a beautiful complement to your wedding that add to the cohesiveness of your wedding. They can provide a pop of colour to your table, or a luxurious minimal look. Not only pretty, they are helpful too. So what menus do you need for your wedding?

INDIVIDUAL MENUS

If you’re having a sit down dinner, your guests will definitely want to know what they’re going to eat. I usually read the dessert options first!

It’s a lovely way to welcome your guests to the table and provides a conversation starter. You may choose to have your menu double up as a place card too.

They are especially useful if guests need to choose between dishes.

The menu also provides information on dietary guidelines such as which dishes are gluten free or vegetarian.

You can provide a menu for each person or place one menu between two people.

TABLE MENUS

If you have a set menu for every guest, you may only need a couple of menus per table. It’s a nice idea to have them mounted in a stand so people can see them easily.

BUFFET MENUS

For a buffet, you can have small tented cards displaying the dish name. You can also add V, GF or DF underneath for guests with dietary restrictions.

LARGE MENU SIGN

Alternatively, you can have one larger menu sign by the entrance of the dining area. This way guests will know what they are going to eat. Display the sign to add a design element. Use calligraphy and an antique mirror or a beautiful chalkboard. There are lots of ways to be creative with your menu sign.

BAR MENUS

You usually need one or two freestanding menus on the bar. These display all the choices of drinks  available for your guests. It includes wines, beers, bubbly and non-alcoholic beverages.

If you are having signature cocktails, it’s a sweet idea to have them illustrated and the ingredients listed.

When choosing a menu design, you can add personal details such as your names and date, your monogram, or venue illustration. Remember to order an extra menu for yourselves. Store it away with your wedding stationery as a keepsake . In years to come it will be lovely to look back on what you served guests on your special day.
